Dennis P. O’Connell graduated in the top five percent of his law school class in 1981 and passed the California Bar exam on his first attempt. He was immediately hired by the Orange County Public Defender’s Office in Santa Ana, California where and remained the for seven years. While with that office his assignments included misdemeanor and felony trials, writs and appeals cases and juvenile court law. He was one of three attorneys, out of 100, to be named to the “Homicide Panel” where he defended individuals charged with murder, manslaughter and vehicular manslaughter. In 1988 he left the public defender’s office for private practice. He opened an office in Orange County and primarily appears in Orange County Superior Court, Riverside Superior Court, San Bernardino County Superior Court, and Los Angeles County Superior Court. His practice includes, but is not limited to, the Central Judicial District of Orange County in Santa Ana California, the West Judicial District of Orange County in Westminster, California, the North Judicial District of Orange County in Fullerton, California, the Harbor Judicial District of Orange County in Newport Beach, California, and the South Judicial District of Orange County in Laguna Nigel, California. Mr. O’Connell’s practice includes Federal and State matters in all jurisdictions. He has access to forensic expert witnesses and state licensed private investigators to assist in the preparation of the defense his cases.
